According to EN 14299 it is necessary to determine the change of the stent diameter as a function of the applied radial pressure. For this examination the laser scanning system is used, which is used also for the examination of the structural behavior. The stent, which is implanted in a thin-walled tube, is kept in a water filled and heated basin. The pressure is exerted on the pressurized water basin by the pressure unit in pre-defined steps. A PUR-tube transmits the pressure onto the stent.
The laser measures the change of the stent diameter as a consequence of the applied radial pressure. Results of the examination are the characteristic of the stent diameter as a function of the applied radial pressure and, if applicable, the collapse pressure of the stent.
