The recoil of balloon-expandable stents after expansion is determined in the course of the examination of the structural behavior.
The inflated diameter with the nominal pressure of the stent system is used as basic diameter for the determination of the recoil. After reaching the final pressure (complete stent expansion) the balloon is deflated (0 bar) and the stent diameter is determined again. This outside diameter is considered as "final diameter". The recoil is calculated as follows: Inflated diameter minus final diameter. It is indicated absolutely and proportionally, relativ to the outside diameter at the nominal pressure (fully inflated balloon).
